IMD, India Meteorological Department, is building climate models using AI to improve weather forecasting, according to a top weather official. The move comes as torrential rains, floods and droughts proliferate across India. The IMD has also said it expects the AI-based climate models and advisories it is developing to help improve forecasts in the country.
